Though the musical underpinnings range a wide soundscape of R&B, dance pop, and rock, Keek’s composition strives to harmonize what is currently rocking the radio with the buried sacred hooks of legendary pop voices. The result of this audial fusion is a carefully constructed melodic mind, encased in a wildly energetic and totally eruptive shell. Keek is Conor Whitehead and Nathan Pearce: a powerhouse arrangement loaded in energy and exact in delivery. HEARTS&MINES (Ottawa Alt Rock)
Hearts and Mines began as a way for Afghanistan veteran Matt Luloff to cope with his tumultuous war memories through creating music. Alongside drummer Jason Watts, Luloff created a pure alternative rock sound that emphasized musicality while maintaining a hard edge. The addition of bassist Rob Hanlon and keyboardist Michael Pineault finalized the band’s lineup in early 2011. While the musical content can seem dark at first, the musicians’ sharp riffs and clean vocal harmonies provide perfect concurrence to the powerful and politically charged lyrics, all written by Luloff.
